Crusaders win their third straight


Ziggy Reid drained a trio of three-pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with a game-high 24 points to help St. Paul’s defeat St. John’s Catholic Prep, 65-60, in MIAA B Conference basketball action, Thursday in Frederick.

Trayvon Wright netted 15 points and Leo Kelly added eight for the Crusaders, who built a 40-28 halftime lead and held off the host Vikings.

St. Paul’s (12-7 overall) improved to 5-3 in the league and holds sole possession of fourth place in the conference.

St. John’s (8-8 overall, 3-4 MIAA B) came in with a shot to leapfrog the Crusaders in the standings but found themselves chasing the whole night.

Brandon Pilgrim paced the Vikings with 16 points and Francisco Palacios scored 15. Brycen Hill also reached double figures with 10 points.
