Former Park School star and current Bruins’ assistant coach stars in the title game
Zac White, who helped lead Park School to the 2005-06 MIAA C Conference basketball championship, is a champion once again.
White, a member of the Penguin Blues, an Australian professional basketball team in the North-West Basketball Union (NWBU), for the last five seasons, recently led the Blues to the 2017 NWBU title.
White was his team’s leading scorer and he sealed the victory in the championship game with a dunk in the final seconds of the game.
The NWBU began play in the 1950’s on the North West Coast and West Coast of Tasmania, before expanding throughout Australia.
White plays for the Blues in the summer, but returns to Park each winter to serve as an assistant with the Bruins boys’ varsity basketball team.
“Zac has such a unique personality and is obviously one of the many successes that have come through our program, but one of the things that makes his path amazing is the ways in which he has sacrificed to give back to our students year after year as a coach,” said Park boys’ program athletic director Dia Clark, who graduated from Park with White in 2006. “It’s great to see him recognized for his life-long grind.”
