Displaying consistent offensive balance, Calvert Hall turned in another outstanding performance, Friday at home, routing visiting Gilman, 77-51, in MIAA A Conference basketball.
Chris Wallace paced the scoring effort with 19 points and just missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. He also added a steal.
Calvert Hall (23-3, 12-3) outscored Gilman 14-4 in the first quarter and cruised from there.
Drew Edwards had another big night with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal, while Sean Mayberry added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Adding to the mix where Reggie Rouse (8 points, two assists, 1 rebound), Nico Clareth (8 points, three rebounds, two assists) and Evan Phoenix (7 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block).
With four regular season games to play, the Cardinals hold a half game lead over Mount St. Joseph and a one game lead over St. Frances in the A Conference. The Cardinals will travel to John Carroll on Monday. Also next week, they will host St. Maria Goretti and Loyola, before closing with a huge home showdown with St. Frances on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Gilman (8-13 overall) is now 6-9 in its first season in the A Conference. The Greyhounds remain just a half game behind Mount Carmel (7-9) in the race for the final playoff spot. Glenelg Country (6-10) and Loyola (5-9) are also in that hunt. Gilman will visit St. Frances on Sunday before closing with Glenelg Country and John Carroll.
