Towson University assistant brings 20 years of college experience to Brooklandville
St. Paul’s School has announced the hiring of Scott Van Zile, a Towson University football assistant, as its new head football coach. He replaces Scott Ripley, who stepped down at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Van Zile most recently served as the quarterbacks coach at Towson, as well as the passing game coordinator and the recruiting coordinator. Previously he spent three seasons as the quarterbacks coach at Elon University (NC) and 13 years as an assistant coach at Monmouth University (NJ).
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Scott to the St. Paul’s community,” said incoming athletic director Trey Whitty, who helped manage the search. “Clearly, Scott is a well accomplished football coach and leader, but what stood out the most to us was his commitment to providing an unparalleled student-athlete experience.”
Van Zile is a 1999 graduate of Towson University and he owns a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He will also join the St. Paul’s faculty as a middle school physical education teacher.
