Senior Ben Stitz scores both goals in the second half
Archbishop Curley, ranked No. 1 in Baltimore by VSN and No. 14 nationally by Top Drawer Soccer, opened its season, Tuesday, with a 2-1 win over Haverford Prep (PA), in Philadelphia.
The game was scoreless at the half and tied, 1-1, midway through the second half.
Senior Ben Stitz scored both goals for the Friars, putting Curley in front 10 minutes into the second half and netting the game winner with four minutes to play. Haverford equalized with a penalty kick from Griffin Wada with 16 minutes to play.
Seniors Nick Richardson and Tommy Sidleck each had one assist and senior goalkeeper Nate Wdzieczkowski had six saves in recording the shutout.
The Friars will play at Haverford again Wednesday against Shipley School of Bryn Mawr, Pa.
