No. 9 Gilman hosted rival McDonogh in MIAA A Conference baseball, Tuesday, and the Greyhounds scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to pave the way to a 6-3 victory.

McDonogh, which knocked off No. 1 Archbishop Spalding on Monday, was gunning for a second straight upset of a Top 10 team, got an RBI double from Robert McHugh in the second and a solo home run from Paul DiPino in the fourth to play the Greyounds to a 2-2 standstill after 3-1/2 innings.

Costes plated Gilman’s first run, driving home Tyler Martinez with a first inning double. Costes also doubled in the third inning and scored on an RBI single by Alex Slodzinski.

Drew Ehrlich started the third-inning rally with a one-out single. He then scored second and third base, before scoring on a safety squeeze by Michael Willis. Willis reached first as the Eagles failed to cut down Ehrlich at the plate and then scored on double by Ryan Williamson. Williamson picked up the Greyhounds third stolen base of the inning as he swiped third, before scoring on a fielder’s choice grounder off the bat of Martinez.

Ben Smith homered for McDonogh to get one run back in the fifth and Gilman got its final run in the sixth on a sac fly by Williamson.
