No. 19 Greyhounds improve to 3-1 in the MIAA A Conference


In a back an forth battle, No. 19 Gilman got a late goal from Jack Stuzin and defeated No. 8 Archbishop Curley, 3-2, in MIAA A Conference soccer, in Roland Park on Tuesday.

The Greyhounds (5-2, 3-1 MIAA A) took a 1-0 first half lead on a score by Luke Unger. Tyler Harry got the visiting Friars even early in the second half, but Gilman went right back on top with a tally by Avery Merlo.

Curley pulled even once again when Anthony Dragisics converted a penalty kick, but Stuzin’s score propelled the Greyhounds to victory.

Bryce Woodward had an assist for Curley, while Johnny Melancon and Unger had helpers for Gilman.

The Friars are now 3-5 overall and 3-4 in the league. Both squads currently have nine points, tied for third with Archbishop Spalding and Calvert Hall, all three points back of McDonogh and Loyola, which are tied for first place with 12 points each.
