St. Frances, Mount St. Joseph and McDonogh remain in Top 5


Nine area football squads are in the latest state media Top 25 poll, headlined again by St. Frances Academy.

The nationally-ranked Panthers are the unanimous No. 1 with all 12 first-place votes, with Mount St. Joseph (4th), McDonogh School, Archbishop Spalding (No. 7) and Calvert Hall College (10th) in the Top 10. Franklin remains the area’s highest ranked public team at No. 11.

Also of local interest in the poll are No. 14 Loyola Blakefield, No. 19 Elkton and No. 22 Mervo. South River, Dunbar and undefeated Harford Tech  each received votes.
