Rising senior goes 7 under par to win by six
St. Paul’s rising senior golfer Lou Baker became the first Crusader golfer to ever win the Maryland State Golf Association Junior Championship, last weekend, as he went 7 under par, over two rounds, to win the title by six strokes at the 16-18 Division at Elkridge Club in Baltimore.
Baker was remarkable consistent both days, shooting a 68 and the first day and coming back with a 67 in the final round.
In the final round he had six birdies, including a four on the par 5 18th to finish up the victory.
Baker, who plays out of Baltimore Country Club, also led the tournament after day one, taking a one shot lead over Austin Barbin, who went on to place second in the tournament with a two round score of 141. There were only six sub 70 rounds shot in the tournament and Baker had two of them. Barbin (-1) was the only other golfer to finish under par of the event.
