Top-seeded St. John’s Catholic Prep, aiming for its third consecutive MIAA C Conference baseball championship, returned to the title game on Wednesday with a 10-8 win over Saints Peter & Paul at Frederick Community College.
SJCP will face Concordia Prep for the title on Thursday (4:00 p.m.) at McDonogh. Concordia reached the final with an 11-1 win over Chapelgate Christian in Wednesday’s other semifinal.
The lead changed hands six times and the teams combined for 17 hits, including four for extra bases. Spencer Griffin had 3 hits and 2 RBI to lead the Vikings. He homered in the 3rd inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.
AJ Javitt, who pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief got the win.
Sam Weisman pushed Saints Peter & Paul on top early with a RBI single in the first inning, plating Cole Koski, who singled to start the game. SJCP responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the first with Alex Morgan plating a run with a sac fly, Kyle Mummey delivering a RBI double, and Griffin also driving in a run.
