The 2016 Mount St. Joseph baseball team was one that improved as the season progressed and the Gaels rallied to make the MIAA A Conference post-season tournament, where they won two games before being eliminated.

In 2017, 13 players, including seven seniors, return for new head coach Rod Cameron, a first-year skipper, but a veteran baseball man who has been involved with the St. Joe program for years.

Senior slugger Ethan Gallagher is one of the top returning Gaels. Gallagher has already committed to Wake Forest, but he may turn out to be a high draft pick in the MLB Amateur Player Draft in June.

Senior Michael McManus is also back for the Gaels. The pitcher/infielder has committed to the University of Pittsburgh.

Seniors Matt Conley and Jake Howell provide depth for St. Joe on the mound and senior Jack Stilling will guide the staff as the team’s catcher.

Also back are junior shortstop Luke Hess and junior outfielder Connor Feustle.
