MIAA A soccer game halted at the half by lightning
Mount St. Joseph traveled to Brooklandville, Friday, for a MIAA A Conference soccer match with St. Paul’s and the two teams had to settled for a 0-0 tie when the game was halted a halftime due to lightning.
Because one half was played and the game was ended by weather, the result is official.
Both teams created chances in the opening half, with St. Paul’s missing two shots wide, while St. Joe had six shots on goal. One of those came off the foot of Brendan Flynn and it was originally ruled a goal, but reversed when the officials ruled the ball was in the keeper’s hands.
The Gaels also had a near miss when Luca Uttenreither headed a corner of the crossbar.
Both teams now stand 0-1-1 in the young season.
