Mount St. Joseph and Calvert Hall, whom tied for first place during the Baltimore Catholic League basketball regular season, both have accepted invitations to complete in the 2014 Alhambra Catholic Invitational, which will take place March 13-15 at Frostburg State University.

BCL Commissioner Jack Degele made the announcement, Monday, at the league’s annual awards dinner.  Degele also stated that it is possible that the tournament selection committee would consider a third BCL team, pending the outcome of this weekend’s league tournament at UMBC.

St. Frances, which upset Calvert Hall in the semifinals of the MIAA A Conference playoffs, and battled St. Joe before falling in a very competitive championship game, is the most likely candidate, but the Panthers will probably have to win the BCL Tournament to have a shot.

Calvert Hall won the coin toss and is the top-seed for the event, while St. Joe is seeded second and St. Frances is third.
