Valentine sinks game-winner as time expires

With 10 seconds to play in a semifinal game at the Benedictine Capital City Classic, Wednesday in Richmond, Va., Philadelphia’s Archbishop Ryan had a 60-59 lead and the ball in their battle with No. 3 Mount St. Joseph.

The Gaels committed a foul to force a one-and-one, which Ryan missed, setting the stage for the Gaels’ Ace Valentine to hitting a game-winning 3-pointer, as the final buzzer sounded, and lifting the Gaels to a 62-60 victory.

St. Joe chased their Philadelphia rivals most of the way before briefly pulling ahead by 1-point late in the final quarter. Archbishop Ryan, however, edged back in front over the final two minutes.

Amani Hansberry had 24 points and 8 rebounds for St. Joe and Bryson Tucker scored 20 points, had 5 assists and 6 rebounds.
