Cavaliers come from behind in the fourth quarter
The Archbishop Spalding boys basketball team snapped an eight game season-opening losing streak, Tuesday evening, coming from behind in the fourth quarter to knock off host Mount Carmel, 57-54, in MIAA A Conference/Baltimore Catholic League action in Essex.
Joshua Akers drained five three-pointers and scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Cavaliers as they overcame a four-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter.
Rene Alphonso added 16 points and Amir Hall added 14 for Spalding (1-8 overall, 1-4 MIAA, 0-3 BCL).
Jordon Jones paced Mount Carmel with a game-high 26 points. The Cougars dropped below .500 overall at 4-5. They are 1-4 in the MIAA A and 2-1 in the BCL.
