Kris Burkowski’s two-run single with two outs in the top of the ninth lifted No. 1 Archbishop Spalding High to a 4-2 victory over St. Paul’s School in a MIAA A Conference baseball contest in Brooklandville.

Burkowski’s hit scored Justin Caesar and Matt Palumbo, who both induced one-out walks. Burkowski and Nick Vermillion each had two hits for the Cavaliers (16-4 overall, 10-3 MIAA A), and Nick Benitez and Jack Triolo each drove in a run.

Vermillion, a senior, struck out 10 over eight innings before Caesar closed it out, striking out two in the bottom of the ninth. Kevin Madden finished 2-for-3 with a homerun for St. Paul’s (2-13, 2-11 MIAA A), and Matt Davis had a RBI.
