Dons outlast Goretti in BCL action
It wasn’t the type of senior season he, or anyone else for that matter, expected, but Loyola Blakefield’s Cam Smith made the most of his final regular season home game in a Dons uniform, Friday, as he scored a career-high 33 points in a 66-60 Baltimore Catholic League win over St. Maria Goretti.
Smith just missed a double-double as he added eight rebounds for Loyola (3-5 overall, 2-4 BCL).
The Dons led most of the way, but Goretti (1-5 BCL) crept close several times.
After Loyola took a 10-point lead into the second quarter, the Gaels cut their deficit to 35-32 at the half. Loyola grew the margin back to 12 points in the fourth quarter, but Goretti continued to battle, before falling by six.
