The Shirts vs. Skins Basketball Showcase, a two-day event matching local boys basketball powers against two national programs will take place Saturday and Sunday at Calvert Hall.
This first annual event, produced by the O’Shea Media Group, is looking to grow into a larger invitational tournament in future years and has, as its mission, the goal to create community awareness and education for the detection and prevention of diabetes.
Visiting Baltimore for the event will be Philadelphia’s Constitution High School, the two-time defending Pennsylvania Class A state champion, and Newark, New Jersey’s St. Benedict’s Prep, which went 31-6 last year and was ranked No. 44 nationally by USA Today.
“We are hoping to make this an annual event and grow into a national style tournament in a larger venue,” said Brian O’Shea, Chairman of O’Shea Media Group. “This year we are in a showcase format to get this thing established and we are excited for the growth potential.”
Saturday’s game’s tip-off at 4:15 p.m. with St. Frances facing Constitution, followed at 6:15 p.m. with Calvert Hall battling St. Benedict’s. On Sunday, at 1:30 p.m., McDonogh will face St. Benedict’s and Calvert Hall will play Constitution at 3:30 p.m.
