Admirals knock defending champion Friends, 2-0

The Severn boys varsity soccer team continued its strong start on Thursday, defeating defending MIAA B Conference champion Friends, 2-0.
The Admirals (5-2, 4-0 MIAA B) still have not been scored upon in league play.
Thursday’s game was scoreless at the half, but Colin McCarthy, with an assist from Nathan Gauthier got what proved to be the winning goal early in the second half. Jack Van Gleson, with a helper from Jack McCarthy got an insurance goal later in the half.
Severn outshot Friends 9-2 and owned a 7-2 edge in corners in what proved to be an impressive effort. The Admirals are three points back of Boys’ Latin (5-0) in the chase for first place in the B Conference.
