The Severn Admirals started a little slow in their home boys’ basketball game with Chapelgate Christian, Friday night, but they found another gear in the second quarter and ran away for a 71-57 MIAA B Conference win.

Severn (9-7, 2-1), which took a slight lead atop the Red Division of the B Conference with this victory, was led by the  scoring of senior star LJ Owens and junior Jermaine Hall II.

Owens scored a game-high 23 points and Hall netted 22 for a 1-2 punch that was hard for Chapelgate counter. The Admirals turned a three-point deficit after one quarter into a 29-26 halftime lead. Severn then outscored the Yellow Jackets 21-14 in the third quarter to take full control.

Chapelgate (7-12, 1-4) was led by Jalen Morant’s 18 points. Cliff McEachin added 13 for the Jackets and Jason Murphy scored 10.
