In a well-played MIAA B Conference baseball game, Wednesday, Severn School defeated Glenelg Country School, 3-2, as Ryan Jack pitched six strong innings for the Admirals.

Jack yielded only three hits and struck out eight, but he did walk eight. Alex Rozner threw a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save.

Offensively, the Admirals pounded out nine hits but Glenelg pitcher Tyler Russo worked his way out of numerous jams.  Russo went the distance only giving up the three runs. He walked three and struck out four.

Of Severn’s nine hits, four were doubles. Jordan Mathis, Tyrek Thornton, Brendan Gauthier and Alex Rozner each had a double. It was Rozner’s two-out two-run double in the fifth that gave Severn the lead. Rozner also had a single and a walk.

Michael Fagan had an RBI single for GCS and Will Bartlett had two hits for the Dragons.

Severn moves to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA. Glenelg Country (3-5 overall) is now 3-2 in the league. Both squads trail first-place Boys’ Latin (6-1).
