Admirals collect four hat-tricks in 10 goal rout


A season which once appeared so promising for the Gilman lacrosse team took another bad turn, Thursday, while visiting Severn continued the surge of the MIAA A Conference lax powers in Anne Arundel County with a 16-6 road victory over the Greyhounds in Roland Park.

Severn built a four goal lead int he second quarter and dominated the second half with an 8-2 spree as the Admirals (7-2 overall, 4-2 MIAA A) won for the fourth time in their last five games.

The Admirals’ offense was balanced and prolific, with four players collecting hat-tricks and one other scoring twice.

Jacob Todd led the way with five points, scoring three goals with two assists, while Conner Layden, Paul Baldwin and Owen Wellschlager also poured three goals each. Baldwin added an assist and Andrew Beard scored twice.

Pitching in with one goal each were Mason Irvin and Nick Sotiropolos-Lawrence, while goalkeeper Will Perez stopped 10 shots.

Playing without star Charie Pope, Gilman (2-6, 1-5) struggled with its offense. Oscar Woloson scored twice for the Greyhounds, while Tucker Hebert, Jake Tompkins, Jay Wilkerson and Bo Webster scored once each, while Kyle Morris had 10 stops.
