Severn School has been on a quest this season to return to the MIAA A Conference lacrosse playoffs and the sixth-ranked Admirals moved within one step of that goal, Friday, by routing defending champion St. Mary’s, 17-4.
Severn (14-6 overall, 3-5 MIAA A) is now tied with Gilman School for the sixth and final playoff spot. Since the Admirals won their head-to-head battle with the Greyhounds they own the tie-breaker. Thus, Severn will qualify for the playoffs if it beats Archbishop Spalding at home on Tuesday or if Gilman loses to top-ranked McDonogh School, which is seeking to complete an undefeated regular season conference record.
Hunter Tyler had 3 goals and 3 assists for Severn, while Michael Lamon had 3 goals and 1 assist and Andrew Volk had 3 goals. In addition, Dylan Gergar, Charlie Olmert and Connor Olson had 2 goals each.
Finally, Tyler Perreten had 1 goal and 3 assists and Kyle Schwitzer had 1 goal.
