Gilman star scores 31 to lift the Hounds over the Cardinals

Gilman senior star Jalen Rucker scored a game-high 31 points, Wednesday, and led the Greyhounds to an exciting, 69-66, MIAA A Conference win at Calvert Hall.

No. 12 Gilman took the lead, in a back-and-forth battle, late in the fourth quarter and closed out the win with strong free throw shooting. Calvert Hall, however, had several chances to tie late in the contest including a desparation three-point attempt by Terrence Henderson at the buzzer.

Gilman (4-4, 2-2 MIAA A) led by as many as eight points in the first half, but Calvert Hall fought back to take a one-point lead at the half. The lead toggled back and forth in the third quarter, but the Cardinals again took a two-point lead into the final quarter.

The Greyhound scoring attack was balanced behind Rucker’s big game, with Malik Missouri scoring 11 points, while Roman Hinds and Matt Cooper combined for 15.

Calvert Hall senior star Logan Curtis had another big night with 24 points, while Henderson scored 10. The Cardinals (3-7, 0-5) also got eight points each from Jaylen Raikes, Amir Jenkins and Latrelle Wedlock.
