Dragons start fast, close strong in 19 point victory


Paced by 25 points by Jarod Robinson, No. 5 Glenelg Country got into the MIAA A Conference basketball win column for the first time this year with a 68-49 home win over Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Monday in Ellicott City.

The host Dragons (2-2 overall, 1-1 MIAA A) started fast with a 22-9 first quarter advantage and they still led by 13 at the half. Mount Carmel rallied within nine as the fourth quarter got underway, but GCS outscored the Cougars 21-11 in the final stanza to win going away.

Noah Batchelor added 17 points for the Dragons and Jordan Brathwaite finished with 12 points.

Mount Carmel (3-3 overall) fell to 0-3 in the A Conference.
