No. 9 John Carroll appears to be finding its stride as junior star Immanuel Quickley returned prior to the holiday break and has begun to find his rhythm after missing more than a month of action.
Wednesday night at Archbishop Spalding Quickley appeared in perfect form as he lit up the host Cavaliers for 34 points in leading the Patriots to a 74-49 romp in a MIAA A Conference/Baltimore Catholic League contest.
Quickley also added six assists and five rebounds in the victory. John Carroll (10-4 overall, 4-1 MIAA, 2-1 BCL) also got 20 points and 11 rebounds from its other junior superstar, Montez Mathis, and 15 points and nine rebounds from Cameron Byers.
John Carroll raced out to a 17-9 first quarter lead and grew its advantage to 18, 40-22, at the half.
Buzz Anthony, who is having a big year for the Cavaliers, led Spalding (7-8 overall, 2-5 MIAA, 1-4 BCL) with 17 points and freshman N’Kobe Turner added 14 points.
