Liam Powderly scores seven points on the road at Archbishop Spalding, Friday afternoon, as No. 3 McDonogh routed the host Cavaliers, 11-4, in MIAA A Conference lacrosse action.

Powderly scored four goals and had three assists. Jack Parr added three goals and an assist, Jack Sweeney had one goal and three assists and Jack Simmons had two assists.

The win, combined with Boys’ Latin’s loss at Gilman, kept alive McDonogh’s hopes of claiming a second seed for the the league playoffs, as well as the first round bye that comes with it.

The Eagles (14-3, 6-2 MIAA) must win its finale on Tuesday, at home, against Gilman, and see the Lakers lose a third straight, as they visit St. Paul’s for the 100th anniversary of that rivalry, to become the second seed.

Spalding (6-10, 0-8) has one final chance to get a league victory when it plays St. Mary’s on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have a chance to spoil St. Mary’s post-season aspirations.
