Many of the football coaches in the MIAA B Conference showed concern about the immense play-making ability of St. Vincent Pallotti, as they discussed the Panthers during preseason conversations. It appears those concerns were well founded, as the Panthers moved to 2-0 in the league with a 61-12 hammering of visiting St. Mary’s, Friday night at Whitemarsh Park in Bowie.
Pallotti scored all of its points over the first three quarters and led 47-0 at the half.
Jaret Patterson ran the ball just seven times before giving way to reserves, but he rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Blake Corum added 45 yards rushing and two scores for the Panthers (4-2, 2-0).
Pallotti quarterback Brandon Stewart complete 5-of-10 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Zack Roski and Warren Dixon, while Penn State commit Cameron Sullivan-Brown caught three balls for 68 yards.
Pallotti shares the early lead in the B Conference with No. 18 Boys’ Latin, which dropped a non-conference contest to Dunbar on Friday. Both squads are 2-0 in the league.
Next Friday, Pallotti will host St. Paul’s at Fairland Regional Park. St. Mary’s (1-4, 0-2) will travel to Carroll County next Friday to challenge Century.
