Loyola’s Patrick Norris made a layup as time expired, Thursday afternoon at Blakefield, lifting Loyola to a thrilling, 63-61, MIAA A Conference basketball victory over Gilman. It was the Dons first conference win of the season.
Loyola (3-6, 1-4) led 23-18 at the half and by as many as 12 in the third quarter before Gilman (6-7, 1-5) made a comeback, eventually knotting the game at 61-61 with seven seconds to play in the fourth quarter.
At that point, Loyola senior guard Kenny Lewis, who led the Dons with 20 points, found Norris open under the basket for the buzzer beating win. JJ Halaby added 17 points for the Dons and Cortland Nelson contributed 12 points and wight rebounds for Loyola.
