After seeing its seven-game season-opening win streak come to a halt in its last outing, No. 4 Mount Carmel jumped back into the win column, Friday in Essex, rebounding with an 80-62 MIAA A Conference rout of visiting and 14th-ranked Gilman.

The Cougars scored 34 first half points and nearly doubled that total in the third quarter as they torched Gilman for 33 points.

Terry Nolan, Jr. scored 15 of his team-high 19 points in the third quarter as the Cougars (8-1, 4-1) took command of the contest.

Nolan got plenty of offensive support from his teammates. Junior Brandon Watson had 16 points, sophomore Jamere Bush-Williams scored 11 and the Cougars got nine points each from junior Mekhi Howard and sophomore Will Thomas each netted nine points.

Mount Carmel shares first place in the Red Division of the MIAA A Conference with McDonogh. Gilman (5-5, 1-3) sits in fourth place in the Black Division.
