Putting some distance between the present and a mid-season slump, No. 3 Calvert Hall won its fourth consecutive game, Friday, dowing Glenelg Country, 88-69, in Ellicott City.

Seniors Drew Edwards and Evan Phoenix led the Cardinals (21-5, 12-4) who are now in a virtual tie for first place in the MIAA A Conference with No. 1 John Carroll and No. 2 Mount Carmel.  The Patriots, who lost at St. Frances on Friday, and the Cougars, who topped McDonogh for their 14th consecutive win on Friday, are both 11-3 in the league, just percentage points ahead of Calvert Hall.

Calvert Hall emerged from a high-scoring opening quarter with a 23-21 lead, but outscored the Dragons 21-9 in the second quarter to take control. Edwards netted 21 points in the game and Phoenix finished with 19. In addition, Nico Clareth netted 12 points and Justin Gorham scored 10.

For Glenelg Country (9-12, 2-12) Darryl Williams scored a game-high 29 points. Michael Bernetti pitched in with 11 points and Anthony Longpré finished with 10.
