Eight goal spurt helps Lakers overcome an early deficit

With snow piles rimming the turf at Duncan Smith Stadium, Friday afternoon, third-ranked Boys’ Latin welcomed in No. 10 Hereford for the Bulls 2018 season opener, and after an early deficit the host Lakers rolled to an 11-3 non-conference victory.
Hereford surprised the Lakers with an early goal by Gavin Schattall, but BL (4-0) scored the next to build an 8-1 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Brendan Grimes led the Boys’ Latin attack with three goals and an assist and Chris Brandau added two goals and an assist. Cam Spencer chipped in the with a goal and two assists.
Schattall added a second goal for Hereford, in the fourth quarter. The Bulls, who were limited by the weather this week, acquitted themselves quite well, playing the first quarter to a 1-1 standstill.
