In a big time MIAA A Conference soccer showdown, Wednesday in Irvington, between No. 2 Archbishop Curley and No. 4 Mount St. Joseph, both squads got a result, as the Friars and Gaels battled to a 2-2 double-overtime draw.

Curley jumped on top in the 7th minute of the contest when senior Alejandro Arbelaez drilled home a shot from 20-yards out to stake the Friars to a 1-0 lead.

St. Joe, however, battled back to take a 2-1 halftime lead, as Ian Regar scored on pair of free kicks, in the 14th minute and again just prior to halftime.

In opening minutes of the second half, the Friars knotted the game at 2-2 as Ben Stitz put his head on beautiful cross from Matt Brummet and the ball found a home in the back of the goal.

That would be it for scoring for the remainder of the contest.

Curley remains undefeated at 6-0-1. The Friars are 3-0-1 in the league where they now have 10 points, two back of first place Calvert Hall, which lost on Monday at Loyola, 2-1.

The Gaels are now 1-1-1 overall and in the league. St. Joe has four points thus far in the league standings.
