Looking to avenge an earlier loss at Blakefield, No. 2 Calvert Hall scored three first half goals, in the first 35 minutes, and went on to capture an important 5-1 MIAA A Conference soccer victory over No. 14 Loyola, Friday afternoon at Kelly Field.

The Cardinals (12-2-2, 9-2-1), who are in a tight battle with No. 1 Mount St. Joseph and No. 3 Archbishop Curley for the two top seeds in the conference, got three goals from senior Ben Alexander, who now has 18 on the season, as well as single goals from freshman Ben Bender and sophomore Camden Ohrin.

Alexander scored the final goal of the first half and then completed the hat-trick with a pair of scores early in the second half. He now has 18 goals this season.

Andrew Lala scored Loyola’s lone goal in the second half. The Dons are now 4-9 in the league and in 7th place.
