Brendan Webster lofted a walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the 9th inning, Thursday, salvaging a 2-1 MIAA A Conference baseball victory for No. 2 Calvert Hall over No. 8 St. Mary’s in a pitchers dual at Carlo Crispino Stadium.

A.C. Chavis started the winning rally with a walk and eventually scored the winning run. Calvert Hall ace Trevor Sprinkle made the start and carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, which was broken up by Brendan Aumiller.

Ryan Poole ran for Aumiller and got to second when Sprinkle hit Elliott Zoellner with a pitch, and to third on a fielder’s choice. Poole then scored the tying run for St. Mary’s (7-6, 2-6) on a wild pitch.

The game was scoreless into the bottom of the 6th inning when Calvert Hall (11-4, 7-1) broke the ice with a sac fly from Chavis, scoring Dariel Torres

Sprinkle pitched 8 innings, throw 102 pitches, striking out 8 and walking none, while allowing just the one hit. Andrew Rosso pitched a scoreless 9th for the Cardinals and got credit for the win.

St. Mary’s Virginia Tech bound Cam Nolet also pitched 8 innings, allowing 3 hits and 1 unearned run. He struck out 6. Sam Barnes surrendered the Calvert Hall run in the 9th and took the loss.
