No. 18 Boys’ Latin came up with another impressive win Saturday, holding off North Carolina’s West Charlotte, 62-60, in a close battle at the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury.

The Lakers (9-4 overall) led 60-57 with less than a minute to play, but West Charlotte’s Simeon Carter scored in a put back and West Charlotte added a foul shot to pull within two, but the Lakers were able to hold on. Carter finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds for West Charlotte.

Kodye Pugh (16 points) and Pat Spencer (12) combined for 28 points and 18 rebounds to push the Lakers to the win. Pugh, who has received a scholarship offer from Georgetown University, had 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks in the first half, helping BL to a 29-23 advantage.

Pugh and Spencer each pulled down nine rebounds. Blair Brooks finished with 11 points for the Lakers, who’ve won seven straight decisions.

The Lake Avenue school is back in action Monday against Arundel in the opening round of the Liberty Holiday Tournament in Carroll County.
