Top-ranked Calvert Hall College scored in all six innings it came to the plate, Tuesday, and slugged its way to a 16-6 MIAA A Conference baseball victory over McDonogh School, as the Cardinals won for the 10th consecutive time.

The Cards (12-1 overall, 6-1 MIAA A) took control early, as they scored eight runs over the first two innings. Gabe Nieto drilled a two-run triple in the five-run second inning to key the early surge.

JP Murphy drove in three runs for the Cardinals, including a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. He also had a walk, a sac fly and scored two runs.

Additional RBI’s were produced by Dominic Freeberger, James Elmore, Zach Frizzera, Justin Kerr, Spencer Blair and Ethan Koster.

Frizzera ended the contest with an RBI single to center, in the sixth, plating Freeberger to invoke the run-rule. Elmore, Brendan Webster and AC Chavis each had two hits and two runs scored, with Elmore, Chavis, Kerr and Leron Ebron each hit a double.

Timothy Dragonette made the start on the mound for the Cardinals, throwing four shutout innings, with five strikeouts, to earn the victory. Dragonette allowed just one base hit.

McDonogh (3-8, 2-5 MIAA A) did all of its scoring after Dragonette left the hill. Jack Kinney and Reid Quinn each drove in pair of runs for the Eagles, while Will Margraff and Adam Rosenstein had one each. In addition, Grayson Lawrence had a hit, drew a walk and scored twice.
