Chapelgate Christian center Jason Murphy is a dominant force in the MIAA B Conference and turns in double-doubles on a routine basis. He did so again Friday, in leading Chapelgate to a 58-51 home win over St. John’s Catholic Prep in league action.

Murphy scored 19 points and had eight rebounds to go with five blocks.

Galen Morant and Cliff McEaching combined for 21 additional points to help the Yellow Jackets finish off the reigning B Conference champs.

Chapelgate led by five after one quarter, but St. John’s exploded for 26 second quarter points and took a 34-30 lead at the half. The Vikings (0-17, 0-8), however, managed only 17 points in the second half as the Yellow Jacket defense stiffened.

The win keeps Chapelgate (10-13 overall, 3-5 in MIAA B) alive in the B Conference playoff chase.
