Leatherwood’s four RBI’s power the Gaels


Paced by a huge afternoon at the plate by Travis Leatherwood, Mount St. Joseph held off a late rally from visiting St. Mary’s as the Gaels claimed an 8-6 MIAA A Conference baseball victory in Irvington, Friday afternoon.

Leatherwood was 3-for-3 with four RBI’s and two runs scored. Bryce Samson knocked in a run for the Gaels and Greg Conley drove home two.

Down 8-2, St. Mary’s scored four times in the fifth inning. Henry Carbone was 3-for-3 with two RBI’s for the Saints, while Logan Scully and Ethan Chaney each had a pair of hits.

The Gaels used eight pitchers to navigate the game with starter going the first two innings to claim the win.
