After a bizarre game at St. Mary’s on Tuesday night that was suspended when an errant shot set off the sprinkler system in the gym, Indian Creek hit the court, Wednesday, looking for a second consecutive conference win, as they host Cristo Rey.
The Eagles set the tone early as they jump out to a 21-8 lead, behind seven first quarter points from senior Derron Morgan, and went on to a 50-38 MIAA C Conference basketball victory.
The energy continued in a balanced effort that saw all 14 Eagles play in the first half as they took a 27-17 lead into halftime. Some hot shooting kept the visiting Hornets within 10, but they couldn’t break the double digit lead as ICS was able keep them at length the rest of the way.
Morgan led Indian Creek with 11 points. Classmate Keion Ulmer-Bostick joined him in double figures, notching an impressive double-double, with 10 points and 14 rebounds. The win pushes Indian Creek to a 4-4 overall record and 2-0 in the early portion of league play.
Cristo Rey fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
