Eagles score 14 times in the top of the first inning
McDonogh opened its season with the type of inning every team dreams about – scoring 14 runs to set the tone for a 20-7 five inning win over host Severn, at Kinder Farm Park.
The Eagles added six runs in the second to build a 20-0 lead, before Severn had a six-run third.
Joe Radek was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI’s. He also had one of five McDonogh doubles. Cory Kowitz, Evan Hertzberg, Kyle Whitaker and Everett Cooper also had two-baggers, while Logan Lach stroked a triple.
Kowitz had three RBI’s, while Each, Matt Spind , Hertzberg and Ethan Mull had had two each.
For Severn, Ben Marculewicz had twi RBI’s and Campbell Grimes had a double and an RBI. In addition, Kyle Mangum had two hits and a rib scored.
