Gilman, which has been rapidly improving in recent weeks, traveled to Boys’ Latin Saturday afternoon to take on the No. 14 Lakers, who came in unbeaten in the MIAA B Conference basketball. The visiting Greyhounds offered a strong challenge, but in the end, BL moved to 13-0 in the conference with a 65-60 victory.
Boys’ Latin (18-3 overall) maintained balanced scoring in a game which was close throughout. The Lakers built a lead as large as seven points on a couple of occasions, but Gilman (11-12, 7-6) rallied back to within two or three points each time.
In the end, the Lakers put the game away at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Senior Colin Heacock led BL with 16 points, while Junior Jordan Brooks pitched in 15. Freshman Logan Wisnauskas added 13 and senior Casey Rees put up 12.
Gilman sophomore Kai Locksley led all scorers with 22 points.
