With four wrestlers who placed in the MIAA Tournament last February, and nine starters overall, Loyola Blakefield figures to have a deep lineup as it enters the 2016-17 wrestling season.
Perhaps the top Don is Dominick Reyes who went 31-4 last winter, placing 3rd at Mount Mat Madness and 6th in the MIAA Tournament. Reyes was ahead 6-1 in is MIAA semifinal match when he was forced to default with an injury.
Shawn Strand and Ryan Thomas both won more than 30 matches for Loyola last year. Stand placed 4th in the MIAA’s and 7th in the Maryland Independent States, while Thomas was 3rd in the MIAA’s and 4th at the MIS.
Also back is Jason Litvak, who placed sixth in the MIAA Tournament, and Taylor Randolph. One newcomer, which will bolster the squad for 14th year head coach Steve Truitt is Josh Aybar, fresh off of a MSWA state championship for the Warhawks junior league program.
