Looking to build some positive momentum as the post-season draws near, No. 9 Loyola snapped a three game losing streak, Monday, with a four goal outburst to claim a 4-2 MIAA A Conference soccer victory over visiting Calvert Hall.

The Dons were led by a two goal performance from Sean Clark, while Gavin Barger had a goal and an assist. Ryan Conrad also scored for the Dons (10-7, 7-6).

Clark scored his first goal from 18 yards out off a shot that hit the cross bar and bounced in, at the 7-minute mark. Clarke’s second was a cracker of a shot, from 30 yards out, that found the side netting of the goal in the 13th minute.

The third goal was scored by Conrad off a corner kick by arger. The fourth goal was a penalty kick by Barger, after Conrad was taken down to end the first half.

Calvert Hall (4-10-2, 29-2) scored two second half goals, the first was a PK by Sherman Wallace, in the game’s 65th minute, and the second was scored by Brad Kim.

Loyola, the defending league champion, currently resides in fourth place in the conference, and, with two games to play, has assured itself a spot in the playoffs.  The Dons will close the regular season with a game at Gilman, on Friday, and a home game with Archbishop Curley, next Wednesday.

Calvert Hall, which has won only once in the month of October, has three games to play in 2013, starting with a home game against top-ranked McDonogh on Wednesday.
