Loyola was firing on all cylinders early in its MIAA A Conference basketball game with Gilman, Wednesday, outscoring the Greyhounds 29-7 in the opening quarter as the Dons rolled to an 80-60 victory.

Gilman (7-18 overall, 1-14 MIAA) rallied to cut the deficit to nine points at the half (38-29), but Loyola (8-16 overall, 3-11 MIAA A) extended its lead again with a 6-0 run at the start of the third quarter. Gilman never got any closer.

Cortland Nelson led five Loyola players who scored in double figures with 22 points and eight rebounds. JJ Halaby scored 17 points for the Dons, Kenny Lewis had 13, Chid Nnake 11 and Cameron Shaw 10. Patrick Norris collected a game high nine rebounds.

For Gilman, Jalen Rucker had 19 points, Drew Ehrilich had 12 on four 3-pointers and Brandon Madison finished with 11 points. Gilman connected on 10 three pointers in the game.
