State champion Lancers pull away in 45-7 win
Archbishop Curley’s 2018 football opener against Linganore went much better than the visit the Friars paid to the Lancers last fall when they surrendered 56 first half points in a 64-6 loss to the eventual Class 3A state champs, but unfortunately for Curley it still suffered a lopsided loss.
Linganore built a 20-0 lead on Friday night before the game was halted, and eventually suspended, by thunderstorms with 3:45 to play in the opening half. When play resumed on Saturday morning, the Friars broke through with a touchdown, but Linganore scored 25 unanswered points to invoke a running clock and left Baltimore with a 45-7 victory.
Jackson Ambush rushed for two touchdowns for Linganore and quarterback Ryan Leyh threw for a pair of scores and rushed for one more. Mason Wills and Bennet Formulak hauled in the TD catches and Joey Felton also scored on a 59-yard reverse.
