Playing on its home turf in Bel Air, No. 16 John Carroll School nearly picked up a signature win, but in the end No. 8 Gilman School rallied for an 8-7 MIAA non-league lacrosse victory Tuesday.

Gilman (3-3 overall) squandered a 5-1 halftime lead and found itself trailing 7-6 with under two minutes to play, as Jake Krieger scored to give the Patriots a lead. The Greyhounds, however, closed strong, tying the game on an extra-man opportunity and then got the game-winner from Woody Kelly with just seven seconds to play.

Krieger led all scorers with two goals and three assists for John Carroll (4-5), and Jude Brown added a goal and an assist.

Piper Bond scored two goals and had one assist for Gilman. Wade Oursler had one goal and one assist and Austin Hudson, Billy Spillman, Cole Brown, Johnny Shapiro all scored once each.
