Calvert Hall College lacrosse team traveled to Conestoga (PA), Friday afternoon, and suffered a tough, 13-12, overtime loss, as the third-ranked Cardinals dropped their second straight game, both to Pennsylvania prep school powers.

Junior Jacob Kelly did all he could to push the Cardinals (2-2 overall) into the win column, scoring six goals and adding two assists. Kelly’s final goal came with just 32 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, as the Cardinals, ranked No. 18 in the latest USA Today Super 25, rallied from three back in the final two minutes to force overtime.

Consetoga’s game winner came with just 1:58 to play in the overtime as Tom Spoko netter his team-high fourth goal of the day. He also had a pair of assists for Consetoga (1-0), which lost, 12-6, to Calvert Hall last spring at Russo Stadium in Towson.

Jack Sawyer and JT Bugliosi each scored two goals for Calvert Hall, which fell to Malvern Prep, ranked No. 12 by USA Today, 13-7, Tuesday. Daniel Kelly added a goal and an assist and Zach Green had one score. In addition, Omari DeBerry had a pair of assists and Brendan Curry had one helper.

The Cardinals are back in action Tuesday against Saints Peter & Paul in a non-league match. It’ll be the first in a stretch of four non-league matches at Russo, leading up to Calvert Hall’s MIAA A opener at Gilman School Apr. 18.
