Carroll and Brandon also score in double figures as Friars even their record at 1-1


After winning two straight MIAA B Conference basketball titles, Gerstell Academy has moved on to the MIAA A Conference. On Friday, one of their former league rivals, Archbishop Curley, sent the Falcons off with a parting gift, as Curley claimed 66-60 win in East Baltimore.

There was a game within the game as Curley’s Caleb Johnson and Gerstell’s Dayyan Noble each turned in spectacular offensive performances, sharing game-high scoring honors with 28 points each.

Curley also got 14 points from Niyoh Carroll and 10 from Daylyn Brandon. The Friars (1-1) led after each quarter of the contest, opening up a 45-36 advantage after three quarters, before the Falcons closed a bit in the final quarter.

Jeremiah Stanton added 15 points for Gerstell which also now 1-1.
