Friars build a big early lead and coasts past SJCP

After a tough early season schedule which included losses to three Top 20 teams, including two in the Top 5, Archbishop Curley finally opened its MIAA B Conference schedule, Friday night at home, and the Friars built a 20-point lead in a 70-62 win over St. John’s Catholic Prep.

Curley (3-3 overall) got twin 24-point efforts from Caleb Johnson and Dinari Boykin and 12 points from senior Travis Dobbins added 12 points in the victory.

The Friars jumped on St. John’s early, outscoring the Vikings 26-10 in the opening quarter. SJCP (5-3, 1-1 MIAA B) slowly closed the gap in the second half, but had too much ground to make up.

Brycen Hill led the Vikings with 20 points, while Tyriel Collins added 13.
